General (image-to-image)
- takes all aspects of the images
The general image to image is what we typically use for referencing. This type takes the reference image you upload and influences the generation in all aspects. This is the most intuitive to begin with, but as you start requiring more precise control, you’ll want to make use of specific types of references.
Pose reference
- takes the pose of humans
- works well with humans and not necessarily animals or untraditional characters
Composition reference
- takes the composition of the image
- works for pose as well as for general composition
Style reference
- takes the style of the image
- the style includes media, colors, atmosphere, and many other artistic elements
- best when combined with composition
Face reference
- takes the face of the image
- include only one visible face in the reference image to avoid confusion
- upload an image with a similar angle/perspective to what you want in the output image
Quick tips
- Use the <influence strength> slider to adjust the extent of influence for each reference type.
- We recommend capping at one or two reference types for beginners. This makes it easy to understand where the influences come from and adjust things as needed.
- When you use more than one reference type, start with one type and gradually add onto it based on the results. In the case you find weird results, you’ll be able to know which part of your creation settings might’ve caused it.
