Subject Description: "Arakhchyn" was not an independent headdress, they were worn under other headdresses papakha, turban. They were typical traditional headdresses of Azerbaijanis, widespread in the Middle Ages. They were sewn from different fabrics, round, tightfitting to the head, while the lining had to be monochromatic. Outside the village, wearing an arakhchyn without a papakha was considered indecent, only children were allowed to do so. In everyday life at home, an arakhchyn could be worn without a papakha. Arakhchyn was mainly worn by young Azerbaijanis.
