Dalam pertemuan itu: Heraclius menyoal Abu Sufyan tentang Nabi Muhammad—asal-usulnya, dakwahnya, akhlaknya, dan pengikutnya. Walaupun Abu Sufyan adalah musuh Nabi ketika itu, dia jujur dalam menjawab, kerana dia malu untuk berbohong di hadapan pembesar Rom. Heraclius terkesan dengan jawapan Abu Sufyan dan berkata, “Kalau apa yang kau katakan itu benar, dia akan menguasai tanah yang kujejaki sekarang ini.” Heraclius menunjukkan kecenderungan terhadap Islam, tetapi tidak memeluk Islam secara terbuka kerana tekanan politik.
