Prompt: Sher-Dor Madrasa, Samarkand, Uzbekistan

Sherdor Madrasah, located on the famous Registan Square in Samarkand, is one of the outstanding examples of Islamic architecture of the 17th century. Built in 1619-1636 by order of the ruler Yalangtush Bahadur, the madrasah is famous for its colorful mosaics decorated with images of lions and sun faces, which gave it the name “Sherdor” (“with lions”). The courtyards and halls of the madrasah are decorated with complex ornaments and tiles. Sherdor Madrasah, together with Ulugbek Madrasah and Tillya-Kari Madrasah, forms a majestic ensemble on Registan Square, being an important historical and cultural landmark of Uzbekistan.
