Prompt: I haven't seen much of John Singer Sargent's work, but I might finally be ready. So realism is your wheelhouse, eh? I shouldn't be surprised. As for me, the only naturalistic artist's canvas I can pick out of a pile with any confidence is Bouguereau, so I'm a fish out of water here. It took (ironically) enrolling in a Modern Art History class for me to acquire a taste for that type of seeing, for the different types of realism. Before then, realistic stuff was simply realistic stuff to me, and that was that.
